Hospital Patients Love Getting Visits from a Four-Legged Friend

dog hospital visits

Have you ever wondered why therapy dogs are popular in schools, counseling centers, and hospitals? That’s because interaction with an animal is known to reduce stress and anxiety.

Meet Taz, a therapy dog that visits patients at the University of Missouri Hospital. Bruce Miller, Taz’s handler, says that Taz loves the attention he gets from the patients. Patients can feel isolated at times, and visits from therapy dogs are definitely something they can look forward to.

Peyton Waldren is a 14-year-old boy that loves Taz. According to him, he feels excited about being visited by Taz because it’s been a long time since he has seen a dog.

There is no actual data to prove how dogs impact patients, but psychologist Megan Hosey has already started a study on this which will be completed in about 2 years.
