Robot Animals for Dementia Patients

Helen Nicholas was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease since 2012. She is just one of the many patients in the US who suffer from the same disease. Now, she spends most of her days with man-made robot animals. They’re a new form of social therapy.

Mary Barnes, CEO of Alzheimer’s Community Care, says these robotic animals help patients interact with their peers. According to the caregivers, the toys are being seen as real animals by their patients and that they bring joy and relaxation.
