People will come together on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Edwin Warner Park, Shelter 11 in Nashville to participate in Puppy Up Foundation’s walk. There will also be a vendor fair, refreshments, K-9 demonstrations, acoustic performances, and a dog costume contest.

This day has a special purpose: to raise awareness about cancer in people and pets as well as to fund clinical trials on pet dogs with naturally occurring cancers. To date, The Puppy Up Foundation was able to donate $1.2 million for cancer research, education, and awareness.

A local church in Colorado, the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, holds a yearly Animal Care Fair to remind everyone about the importance of animals. This year is their fourth year of celebration. Several organizations participated in the event – rescue groups, animal-related businesses, and non-profits that provided affordable vaccination clinics.

Coordinator of the Animal Care Fair Lynne Habberfield said that some of the groups were related to therapy. She concluded that indeed, the event was a celebration of the bond humans and animals have.

As midterms approach, students from West Chester University feel stressed and pressured. Call it the mid-semester funk. This happens to students from other universities as well. Would you believe that 11 million horses, donkeys, and mules, and 100,000 dogs and 200,000 pigeons served during world war 1? In fact, a pigeon named Le Valliant lost its life due to gas poisoning after delivering a letter to Commander Raynal at Fort Vaux.

The Paris Animaux Zoopolis Association, a French animal rights organization, recognizes the significant contribution of these animals during the first world war and with that, pushes for commemoration. Initially, the organization’s plans were rejected. But because they continued their campaign for the memorial, Paris City Hall finally approved their plan.

As of today, there is still no final answer as to where the location of the memorial will be. The president of Paris Animaux Zoopolis Association hopes that it will be on avenue de l’Observatoire in the 6th arrondissement due to its historical importance.
