Recently, it was announced that the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike will be providing an ambulance that will rescue injured animals. The focus will be on stray dogs, cats, and monkeys. All that a person should do is make a call and the ambulance will immediately arrive to take the stray animal to the nearest vet.

The BBMP also plans to train the ambulance staff to perform first aid.

Sadie is a 9½-year-old golden retriever-Labrador mix and a certified therapy dog in the United States. Her owner named Catherine Rutter says that before she got Sadie, she has already heard about therapy dogs and thought how great it would be to share them with others.

Aside from being a certified therapy dog, Sadie also happens to be one of the engaged dogs at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

These dogs help serve patients with conditions such as cancer, dementia, epilepsy, and more. Some of their visits with patients aren’t therapy-based. The dogs can simply be there to raise the spirits of staff members and patients.

Coordinator of Wake Forest Baptist’s Animal-Assisted Therapy program Suzanne Thompson says,“ Even though a prospective therapy dog has been certified and meets our other criteria, I evaluate them to see if they’re a good fit here.”

Before Charlotte Ferrell bought Pablo, her world was different. Her mom died and she didn’t get out of bed for five days. She found it hard to return to her routine. Sydney Schapel is a student at Elon University, and she shares her thoughts about pets being on campus. According to her, many students at Elon happen to be animal lovers. She also wonders whether the university will be allowing emotional support animals.

While some dorms at Elon University aren’t animal-friendly (because of students who are allergic), Sydney mentions the benefits of bringing an animal to campus:

In an effort to protect its customers and team members, American Airlines updated their service animal and emotional support animal policies on Friday. These policies will be taking effect on April 1, 2019.

Such changes have been made due to the increasing number of emotional support animals and incidents involving these animals such as biting, urination, and defecation.

Here are the new policies:

• Service animals are limited to dogs, cats, and miniature horses (special circumstances)
• Emotional support animals are limited to dogs and cats.
• Only one emotional support animal will be allowed per passenger.
• Animals under the age of 4 months are banned as service and emotional support animals.

American Airlines decided to strengthen its policies after their survey which got responses from 10,400 employees and 18,000 customers.
